There is a Lichfield marriage of a John Dawkins to Elizabeth Dale on 19th May 1746. It looks as though that may be where it was recorded, rather than took place, because none of the abodes on the page were in Lichfield: e.g. Birmingham.

John's abode was Austrey, Warwickshire, which is just under 5 miles from Snarestone.

There is a licence which gives John as 22 and Elizabeth as 25, also of Austrey.

The Allegation says that the marriage is to take place at Austrey.  John is said to be a Husbandman aged 24, and he signs the document.

Well done guys, I had seen the litchfield marriage before and dismissed it, I made a mistake there. A lesson learnt! Thank you for this, its been a scratch that needed itching for a very long time.

Well done and I salute you.

There isn't any sign though that the marriage took place at Austrey in 1746. It doesn't appear in the parish register. Somewhere else, or didn't happen?

If you have access to the register images on FindMyPast and go to page 2 =

The Register of christenings, marriages and burials in the Cathedral Church of Lichfield commencing September 1744.

John Dawkins' marriage entry is on page 12.

I seem to be struggling to find that, would you be able to post me a link please? Thank you in advance.
