Boalers of Barlborough
« on: Saturday 08 April 23 18:15 BST (UK) »
Just wondered if anyone is researching this family. The family lived in Sycamore House Barlborough which has 2 listed monuments in the garden. I've found lots of information about the family but can't find who lived in the house after 1861. The occupant then was
Robert Boaler 63 Farmer 12 acres of land born Welbeck
Jane       "      44                                   born Waterthorpe
Jane Hunt Boaler 8                                born Barlborough

I'm researching the history of the house (as a surprise gift) and thought I would include inhabitants.
The house was owned by the Boaler family until it's sale in 1907.
Many thanks

Jenny

Hi Carole

I've tried that but because the earlier censuses didn't show road names/house numbers I drew a blank. I think it might be on/just off Sycamore Lane??

Both her parents had died by then and she was in the custody of her aunt.

I notice the 1861 shows them living in Nottinghamshire although Barlborough is in Derbyshire

As both Robert & Jane died before 1871 - which member of the Boaler family owned the farm up to 1907?

I wasn't aware of that. I just noted they were in Barlborough village in 1851 and 1861

1861 the households are in this order

William Rodgers
Robert Boaler
Benjamin Buckler
Luke Atkin

1871 the same neighbouring families are still close together, in this order, on Sheffield and Mansfield ROad
Benjamin Buckler
Luke Atkin
William Rodgers

No household in between

They're nearly all ag labs and miners. Robert Boaler stood out as a farmer of 12 acres. There's only a few households which are "higher" class
Henry Cottam/Collam - farmer, with  servants
Samuel Mallinder - butcher
Charles Mallinder

They may be in your house?
