Looking for likely cemetery/burial ground for my Catholic ancestors who resided and died in Maryhill, Scotland.  Patrick Gaughan, 48 Bridge Street, Maryhill, died 1864.  Wife Anne/Aner Gaughan 52 Bridge Street, Maryhll, died 1873.  I understand Immaculate Conception Church was the RC church for Maryhill, but haven't found any burial information for my ancestors.  Thank you.

Saint Kentigern's Catholic Cemetery adjoins Lambhill Municipal Cemetery, very close to Maryhill.
The Immaculate Conception is still the Catholic parish for that part of Maryhill.
I think the City Archives at the Mitchell Library may have the burial records but I'm not sure.
Someone else on this List will know!

I just checked city archive holdings re: churches.  They seem to archive all church denominations except Catholic churches.

I think the records are at the Mitchell.

The Archives will be closed on Monday but it would be worth a 'phone call on Tuesday, just to be sure.

Google is your friend for this cemetery  ::)

www.familysearch.org/search/catalog/1321853?availability=Family History Library - Cemetery records for St. Kentigern's Catholic Cemetery, Maryhill, Glasgow, 1882-2000

You have to know what you are looking for in terms of dates as there is no index just microfilms.

shawnfbrown, have you used Family Search in the past? You need to register to view records. Nice and simple to do...and free. Once you are logged in you will be able to view what records they have and in the format they hold them in.

Thanks for tip re: Family Search of cemetery records, but interment daybooks only go back to 1885; my ancestors were buried 1864 and 1873.

I've put in email to research librarian at the Mitchell library.

St. Kentigern’s Roman Catholic Cemetery was established, like the Western Necropolis, in 1882 and is named after the founder of Glasgow (also known as St Mungo) and The Western Necropolis forms part of a larger cemetery network with the adjoining Lambhill Cemetery and St Kentigern’s. (taken from https://glasgowgallivanter.com/2020/10/19/glasgow-western-necropolis/) I was at a funeral there on the 4th of april and reading the main history at the gates the first interments where 1881 so looks like this cemetery is post your dates you are looking for.

... Wife Anne/Aner Gaughan 52 Bridge Street, Maryhll, died 1873.

Is this her statutory death index entry?:

Ann GAUGHAN or GILLESPIE
Age 40
Mother's maiden name MCDONALD
1873
622 / 1 / 206
Maryhill

Could this connect with this burial entry at Old Dalbeth Cemetery?

ANN GAUGHAN
42
2/8/1873
Lair
