Help request please for Robert Gavin
« on: Sunday 09 April 23 20:41 BST (UK) »
Hi may I please  once more seek the help from Rootschat  in Ireland this time.
Im trying to find  the parents and beyond of Richard Gavin b 1826 , Offaly , Ireland.

Sadly I can find nothing on Ancestry  except from his marriage 1859 to Harriet Wadsworth and there 3 sons William, b1862 , Albert b1864 and Percy b1866.   I would love to go back but finding nothing.

Thank you in advance for any help & information 😊

Your next step would be to look at the marriage record to find the name and occupation of Richard Gavin's father.
Milligan - Jardine – Glencross – Dinwoodie - Brown: (Dumfriesshire & Kirkcudbrightshire)
Clark – Faulds – Cuthbertson – Bryson – Wilson: (Ayrshire & Renfrewshire)
Neale – Cater – Kinder - Harrison: (Warwickshire & Queensland)
Roberts - Spry: (Cornwall, Middlesex & Queensland)
Munster: (Schleswig-Holstein & Queensland) and Plate: (Braunschweig, Neubruck & Queensland & New York)

It looks like you can view the marriage at an LDS library. Father's name is Jeremiah in this index.

Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Hi,  the only Jeremiah Gavin I can find is in Ballingarry, North Tipperary, this is not far from the border of County Offaly.  (There is another Ballingarry in South Tipperary) Some records overlap between Tipperary and Offaly.
the map
https://www.townlands.ie/tipperary/borrisokane2/
zoom in slow and you will see the road number N52, zoom and again and you will see Ballingarry.
This is him in the Griffiths Valuation

There is a marriage of a Jeremiah Gavin and the father is Jeremiah from the same place in Parsonstown which is now called Birr.

They went to Canada.   There are 27 trees and some say the Mother was Elizabeth.

Thank you for all your info and the time you took to answer but sadly I don't think the Jeramiah  marriage fits as it would make him borrn 1824 when Richard Gavin (the Son)  was born 1826 .!! But thank you

I've managed to find the Son's  (Richard Gavin's marriage to Harriet Wadsworth on ......Church of Latter Day Saints site) .  And his father is named as Jeramiah,  so at least we know that much but nothing else .
