looking for birth/baptism record Susan Gaughan abt 1845 County Mayo
« on: Monday 10 April 23 00:13 BST (UK) »
Susan Gaughan married Miles Neilan 18 April 1865 Scotland.  Her age was 19, birth year about 1846.  Their 1871 Scotland census listed her age as 26, birth year 1845 and born in Ireland.  Her parents listed on Scottish marriage record as Patrick Gaughan and Honor/Aner Gillespie.  I obtained a marriage record for Patrick Gaughan and Honor Gillespie in County Mayo 2 Feb 1830.  Honor resided Glenedagh, County Mayo.  Patrick and Honor emigrated to Scotland and were listed on the 1861 census and son William was born Scotland 1861.  Patrick and Honor were not found on 1851 census Scotland.  Looking for Susan Gaughan's birth/baptism record in Ireland abt 1845/6, as well as other siblings if possible, maybe Richard or Bridget?
I did some research on IrishGeneaology.ie with no luck.

Thanks, S Brown

I obtained a marriage record for Patrick Gaughan and Honor Gillespie in County Mayo 2 Feb 1830.

Just providing a link to the Catholic marriage record.

Baptism of daughter Margaret in 1832.

There do not appear to be any known baptism registers available for Kilfian after 1836.

Patrick and Honor emigrated to Scotland and were listed on the 1861 census and son William was born Scotland 1861.

Can you provide a reference for this census, not just 'Scotland'.  It doesn't seem too likely that a couple married in 1830 would be having a child in 1861.  Where was Susan in 1861?

Debra  :)

Think you are referring to the 1861 for Honor & Patrick MAUGHAN - both aged 40.  Eldest child is 8yrs old John b Renton Dumbartonshire
