Hi All,

I have just located a City of South Melbourne Rate Book notice for a Walter North in 1890-1893 - any clues on how I track this gentleman down further?
The name just seems so elusive to find any details!

Thanks

Are you sure this is your Walter North.. seems odd, but not impossible, that he was living in South Melbourne, Vic but spent all his life in SA and died there.

The Rates Book listing shows Walter North lived at Greig Street South Melb in around 1887.
Other earlier and later entries show he was varioisly an accountant, clerk, bookeeper .

This man was Walter James North who died in 1909 aged 54 years and left a will favouring his wife Agnes Molesworth North whom he had married in 1884.

He still held the Greig Street property at death, though he lived in Cromwell Cres, Hawksburn It is listed as an asset.

He is described as a gentlemen at death.
Probate to his wife in 1910 and no mention of children.

In the death notice in the Age in 1960 for Elizabeth, (attached below) Harry is described as a brother to the other children of Matthew WILLIAMS.

Was he aware that he was not?
