Baptism and siblings for William Hooper b. 1815 Wolverhampton
« on: Wednesday 12 April 23 18:37 BST (UK) »
Dear All,

I'd like to ask for some help finding a baptism and siblings for my ancestor William Hooper, Born in 1815 in Wolverhampton. William married Sarah Ann Taylor of Ironbridge, and can be found in Dudley in '51 and '61, Aylesbury in '71 and West Bromwich in '81. He died in King's Norton is 1885. His children are as follows: Mary Hannah (1837-?), Eliza (1840-1872), Sarah Ann Elizabeth Jukes (1842-?), Martha (1850-1883), William Henry (1851-1929) and Nora Eliza (1859-1943). An interesting matter that might help things is the surname 'Jukes', which appears as a third name in his daughter Sarah. Eliza's marriage with John Greenfield is witnessed by a 'Samuel Jukes', which suggests a family connection.

Thanks a lot,
Francis

There is a baptism at St Peter's, Wolverhampton 10 July 1814 for a William Hooper, parents John, a Miner, and Mary.
The same couple also baptised John 1816, James 1819 and Elizabeth 1821.
Smith Tiplady Boulton Branthwaite King Miller Woolfall Bretherton Archer and many more

Thanks a lot for finding that  ;D. I think we have the guy. I've found them in 1841 living with John, the father (b. 1791). He is listed as being born 'outside the county', so there's not much to go on. I think the marriage in St Mary's, Hansworth in 1816 of a John Hooper and Mary Kimberly is our John.
I also think I may have found his death, apparently in Birmingham in 1849.

Has anyone had any luck with the Jukes?

Best wishes,
FG

If John/Mary bapt William 1814 the 1816 Marriage is unlikely?

I did notice they were in Dukes St 1841 Census!
