Jeeps Family
« on: Wednesday 12 April 23 19:06 BST (UK) »
In the 1935 Electoral Register for Impington 4 members of the Jeeps family lived in Cambridge Road.

Alice Jeeps (1882), Elizabeth Jeeps (1867), Emily Jeeps (1870) and Oswald Jeeps (1902)

Alice died 1952, Elizabeth 1945, Emily 1945 and Oswald 1983.

I can't find them in the 1939 register to check if they were living together, married or single.

Can anyone help?

All the records suggest they were at no 74, but I can only find from 1-51 in the odds, some named properties that are close to o 74 judging by electoral registers, then 66 - 2 backwards in the evens. There's nearly a whole page redacted in between, for some reason (maybe the fruit packing works?) so maybe they're in there by mistake

1911 suggests Emily and Elizabeth were single, so if they died as Jeeps presumably they never married?

1911 also suggests Alice is single

However, there's a marriage for an Alice Jeeps to Richard William Smith in Chesterton district in 1902. He's still in Hinton in 1911, married with son - no wife in sight. By 1917 when he joins up he has another wife -who he's just married

RC does not allow 1939 info to be given other than what can be found on the free index - copyright issues

Oswald was Oswald Lloyd Jeeps & was illegitimate & born June qtr 1901.  He may have enlisted hence no 1939 entry

As they were sisters - & as all died as Jeeps - you already know they never married

Did you check their births - Alice was Princess Alice

Thanks for looking. I assumed that they were the daughters of Ellis Jeeps, but the electoral register did not provide dob, or exact address,  so I was not sure. And then couldn't find them in the 1939 register.

I wonder which of the Jeep sisters was Oswald's mother?

If you check their birth registrations via GRO online - their mothers maiden name is shown which you can then use to find their marriage and parents christian names
