Fryday(e)s - and it will be backside, not barkside.

It looks a bit different to our eyes because of the use of lower case 'ff' to represent upper case 'F', which at one time was the usual way to do it.

I have no idea of how many Edward Clench's are running around in the year 1605, but there is an article on an Edward Clench of Milborne Port, who in the year 1605 was questioned by the authorities regarding the Gunpowder Plot.  He apparently prophesied a few future events while "making merry" (presumably while in a pub). so the authorities were notified.

The article was written in 1907, looking back at historical times.
