There are 14 gravestones at Crimond with the surname Turriff. Doesn't seem to be one with your Robert, but I will check again later when I have time.

Her father on her marriage is stated as a weaver but her death Cert states his name as James - postman?
If there is a disparity between the marriage and death certificates the marriage is more likely to be correct because she supplied that information herself.

I wouldn't be too bothered about a change of occupation from weaver to postman or vice versa.

Most of what is on the LDS FamilySearch site is indexed from the original records at www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk, and if it isn't you need to check very carefully where it came from as information from unverified sources can be wrong.

He died in 1849 so it was a burial.  Burial records are thin on the ground in Scotland.  Civil registration did not start until 1855.

The first Jean/Jane died in 1842 and I suppose you can assume that the second also had the middle name CUMMING.

Is this the family in 1851 mistranscribed and living in Crimond??
I take it that's from Ancestry?

They are listed as Turriff in the index to the original document at www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk.

Yes - the transcription is from Anc - just checked FindMyPast and transcribed as Turriff

I note the shortage of baptism records of this surname in the parish of Crimond (only 19 in total up to the start of civil registration.

I also note from the New Statistical Account of 1845 http://www.rootschat.com/links/01s8d/ that about a fifth of the population of the parish were adherents of the Episcopal Church, so perhaps the Turriff family were of that persuasion? In theory the Church of Scotland was supposed to record all baptisms irresepctive of religious denomination, but in practice this was not always done.

The surviving records of the Episcopal Church are not on Scotland's People, and are not always easy to find.
