Elizabeth Searle abt 1816 Berkshire
« on: Friday 14 April 23 13:28 BST (UK) »
I am trying to find out about Elizabeth Searle born about 1815 Easthampstead, Berkshire. (Info from 1851 census) Married a James May 1846, Reading, Berkshire ( the good people on this site helped me resolve that brick wall). I have all her children and census 1841 - 1861. Marriage cirtificate (which I have)says father a Robert Searle, broomaker. I have found him on the 1841 census (I think) but struggling with any other info. Been trying to check names on 1841 census. Others on various genealogy sites have Elizabeth’s father as James, but not sure if this wrong or the father was called Robert James or something like this. Appreciate your help as lost what else can do to check facts. Many thanks

Is the Robert Searl that you found in 1841 living in Wokingham  :-\

Robert Searl 65 occ Broom Maker
Lydia 52
Ann 10
Thomas 14
Mary 10
All born in county

Living in another household same house. Sorry should be living next door
Elizabeth Searl 25 (not born in County)
Leanore 13
James 4
Edwin 2
Frederick 4 months
Children bn in county

I wonder if this is young Frederick which would indicate that Elizabeth was not marriedSEARLE, FREDERICK       (No mothers maiden surname listed)-

Elizabeth was not born in county re 1841 census.

Her mother Lydia is living with her daughter Ann in 1851 and says she was from Bure Sussex

It was common for the first child to be born near the mothers parents I would try baptism in Sussex circa 1816.
UPDATED scratch that idea, see transcriptions on ancestry next message

I haven't found a marriage of Robert to Lydia as yet.
