Thanks to everyone who has taken time to look at the premise and offer suggestions, as it stands John & George served their sentences in Australia and granted freedom, but never to return to London.  What became of their mother remains the mystery.
Your efforts are all appreciated.

I'm wondering if this might be the sister:

Margaret Kingston married John Brown (a mariner) at St George in the East on 20 May1867. Father William Kingston, a labourer.

Thanks Shaun, John & George's father was also a John.  The timeline is good.  When convicted his next of kin was "Mrs Cain" (no relationship revealed).  Mmmmm. do I want to track a Margaret Brown?
Thanks for the suggestion ;D

of 1 Upper Well (?) Alley, Wapping

No Cains at 1 Upper Well Alley in 1861, but there were several families from Cork there.

I'm working on the premise that the family was from Schull East, Cork and included two other brothers James (1836) and Thomas (1844) but I have been unable to determine any daughters by name and even if Schull East was their origins.  Thanks for trawling for me.

On both brothers' records, the next of kin is recorded as their mother, Margaret
She is only recorded as Margaret, so not necessarily Margaret Kingston(e).

Her maiden is believed to be Foley and Schull East is possibly their origin in County Cork.

Has the Geo, Kingston in Portsmouth Gaol (among others) 1853-1856 been ruled in or out as being the same man?
He had a sister “Mrs Jas. Barry, 29 Ringsmead Terrace”.

Added…maybe not as Church of England.
