birth and marriage

 hi im trying to find thomas william dixon born 21 october 1904 poss durham, stockton he married a elizabeth dent in 1929 in billingham. i have the 1939 register which indicates his birth as above also his fathers name is robert dixon a miner, but i cannot find anything at all, no reff to a bapt for thomas so i cannot get his actual mothers name and marriage date . any help would be very gratefull

Have you looked at the GRO?

There is this birth

DIXON, THOMAS  WILLIAM     BOWES 
GRO Reference: 1904  D Quarter in WHITEHAVEN  Volume 10B  Page 682

Have you looked for him in 1911?

A free search of the 1921 census shows this family in Workington, this time Thomas is recorded as Thomas W., born 1904, Distington, Cumberland

Distington was a parish within the Whitehaven Registration District.
Garrad (Suffolk, Essex, Somerset), Crocker (Somerset), Vanstone (Devon, Jersey), Sims (Wiltshire), Bridger (Kent)

Probate Calendar 1986
DIXON, Thomas William of 6 Mill Cotts. Distington Workington Cum. died 28 Aug 1986 Administration Newcastle upon Tyne 15 October Not Exceeding £40000

Looking at that 1939 entry for this couple, the youngest child, Eric, was born 19 Nov 1933

Deaths Whitehaven 1991, Eric Dixon, d.o.b 19 Nov 1991

so though Thomas William & family was in Billingham in 1939 its quite possible that at some stage after that they moved back to Distington.

Though there was no will for Thomas William, £1.50 for a copy of the grant of admin would give the name of the person who adminstered his estate which 'could' be a cheaper way to confirm this than a death cert

hi and thankyou for your reply that is very much possible as i was wandering why i wasnt findind anything in the durham or stockton area  for his parents so this does make sence
