Dear Rootchat Magicians.
I would like to try and expand my knowledge, although very little about the Steel and Lonsdale families.
I am currently stuck on finding more information on them. I currently have the following information; their marriage took place on 13 Aug 1820 in Ripon Cathedral, Yorkshire.
I have only been able to securely find Elizabeth Steels (abt.1826), Francis Steels (abt.1826), Jane Steels (1835), and Geroge Steels (abt 1837) as their children. I am unsure if they had any more children.
I have the family living together on Apple Street, Leeds in the 1841 Census. John is a Bricklayer. I also have them in the 1851 Census living on George Street with their daughter, Elizabeth, who is now married to Henry Storr. John is a 51-year-old Bricklayer and both John and Elizabeth give their birthplace as Ripon, Yorkshire.
I have come across a few hints but none of them make sense, there seems to be another John Steels who was a Tailor. I don't feel this is the correct family.
A search for an Elizabeth Lonsdale from Ripon, bought back some surprising results on Ancestry, as there seems to be a fair amount of Elizabeth Lonsdales from that region in that time. I could only find one baptism in 1800 on FamilySearch where the father's name was Frances. I am unsure if this is the correct baptism for the Elizabeth Lonsdale I am looking for.
Elizabeth Steel (1826) married Henry Storr on 5 May 1844 in Leeds, Yorkshire. Her father is a Bricklayer.
Frances Steel (1826) married Mary A Hargreaves on 31 Mar 1850 in Leeds, Yorkshire. His father a Bricklayer.
Jane Steel (1835) married Benjamin Hillary on 11 Jul 1856 in Hook, Yorkshire. Her father a Bricklayer.
Thank you in advance.
