Very early Carmarthenshire Parish Records
« on: Thursday 20 April 23 15:24 BST (UK) »
Some of you may know this already? Transcribed parish records from 1813, tend be on on-line sites, presumably because they are much more legible and organised. Pre 1813 parish records have always been difficult to find

I have only just discovered that very early Carmarthenshire parish records are actually on Ancestry. It’s just not obvious they are there.  There is potentially some hidden gems in there as I don’t think any of it has been transcribed, you just have to look through and see if you can find BMB’s of interest.

The early records tend to be under “mixed’ e.g. if you go here

https://www.ancestry.co.uk/search/collections/62102/?birth=1781&baptism=_llanarthney-carmarthenshire-wales-united+kingdom_89558

Select “Browse individual record” on the left hand side
Select your Parish of Interest
Select Llanarthney
Select Mixed
Then choose 1721-1779 or 1780-1812
Est Voila!

The records are difficult to read, it’s just a matter of perseverance!
