Help identify Photographic studio please

Hi Rootchatters

A friend of mine has asked me to recover a water-damaged photograph, but on removing it from an elaborate mount I found the studio name embossed on the surround. Ive tried to clarify the best I could and this version (dull paper brown mount inverted in PS) is the best I can do for now. I tried to reshoot with my macro lens but it didnt improve

May be G Johnson - Bedford?

I see CA too. Could it be Beeford? The Ds look different to me.

Those photos were a good find.  One of them was 1914 so hopefully Charles Solomons is on census in Bedford around then
