St Neots/Eaton Socon Workhouse
« on: Thursday 20 April 23 23:26 BST (UK) »
Hi all. I visited the Family History centre in Huntingdon years ago and came away with a lot, if not decisive, info from their microfiche and records. One thing I don't seem to have taken a note of was the death of a Thomas Salt in the workhouse 1840 something. It would be great if someone could send me the details. Think there were at least two Thomas Salts/Saults in St Neots and currently having fun and games choosing the right one and where they came from!  ::) Thomas Salt the whitesmith apprentice is definitely my ancestor! Thanks in advance. Angie x

Thomas jnr died in the Holborn WH in 1896 aged 70 but occ is shown as barber.  He was a clock smith in 1891

Thank you for looking! Yes, he did marry Emma Richards. He was a clock/watch maker and died Clerkenwell 1869. The Holborn workhouse one is a different person. Angie

There are only 2 Thomas Salt deaths in 1896.  The one mentioned above & one b 1835 who died in Derbyshire

The Thomas who died Derbyshire was a farmer in 1891 but his wife was Emma - both were b Derbyshire

In 1871 - the Derbyshire Thomas is a carrier.  Birth reg of daughter Martha Charlotte in 1858 shows Emma’s maiden name as Fox

There's a few trees on Ancestry by people also researching Thomas Salt.
They have Thomas Salt died  1896 as the son of Thomas Salt d 1845 , one has his mother as a  Mary Lambert.
There's little detail on his siblings.

Perhaps the death certificate is needed.
