Rachel Robinson (nee Dodgson)
« on: Sunday 23 April 23 08:00 BST (UK) »
Rachel Dodgson, bapt 25 Nov 1825, St Peters Liverpool, parents Issac and Lucy (nee Brown).
Marries John Robinson 5 Jun 1853 St James Liverpool. John dies 4 Aug 1855 Everton.
Two children:
Annie Robinson b 23 Jun 1854, d 9 Aug 1854
John Bradford Robinson b 6 Aug 1855 (2 days after father's death).

Seeking information on Rachel post her husband's death
(I can't find her or John Bradford in 1861 Census; John Bradford is in 1871 Census living with grandparents).
Thanks

Just to save anybody looking - she is not the 1856 marriage to William Little.  That Rachel was a spinster father William Robinson

I wondered whether she may have had a breakdown given the 2 deaths & the birth so close together.  If she was in a mental institution she may only be shown under her initials

on his admission to the Blue Coat School, Wavertree in 1864, John is noted as orphan, kept by his grandfather. Residence looks like 8 Bk Roscommon Street.

Thanks Carole and Osprey.

Carole, how did you know the William Little marriage was not Rachel so quickly? (I forgot to mention I had a certificate confirming it was the wrong father to be Rachel). I wondered about an asylum too because of the circumstances, but assumed if she then died there would still be a death certificate? DO you know of an asylums in the area and whether there are records available?

Osprey, where did you find the school admission details? Do you know if there are records for orphans?

Osprey, that address is correct for John's grandfather at that time.
Great find

the school admission is on Findmypast. There are 2 different entries and one has a column which appears to be occupation of mother and in that, for JBR, it says dead.

Were Rachel's parents dead by the 1861 census? John isn't with his Robinson grandparents on that census.
