Thank you for the information.  I have no idea if these are the right family.  I have a John Mather who is uncle to William he was born 1750.  I will have to do some more searching!!

On the '41 Census is a John Parry, age 47, paper maker at Afonwen. Fits the 1793 birth for the possible "John Mather Jnr." The previous page has a Mary Mather, age 70, Ind.' Afonwen

On the census page after John is a Thomas Parry, age 52, Maesycoed, paper maker and Anne Parry, age 45.

Sorry for delay, I've been trying to fit my ancestors into the ones you mentioned.  My definite relative is Henry Mather b.1821 with his father William 1780. My John b.1750 I have as married to Eunice Blakley.  I have his father as Thomas Mather. And I have William Mather 8 Mar 1780 Bagilit, Wales with wife Ester and William's father Thomas b.1753.
As usual there are so many people with the same names.  Any help with this would be appreciated.

Yet to spot an 1821 baptism for a Henry Mather, father William but there is -

FindMyPast (image/transcript)
Parish of Hollywell
Bap. 14 Feb 1813, Henry, son of Wm and Esther Mather, abode Travellie**, father's occupation Paper maker.
** - difficult to make out

Siblings (parents Wm & Esther, father papermaker)
Parish of Holywell - Sarah, bap 15 Mar 1815, abode Hol'l

What's the source of your 1821 Henry?

Yes, it was the Baptism record on Find My Past that I found him.  Haven't seen it anywhere else

You have quoted "1821" as Henry's year of birth. Do you mean "1813"?

The Mather/Blakely (both of Outwood) marriage was at St Mary, Prestwich, Lancs, 16 May 1769. How do they link to the Welsh side?

Yes, sorry about the 1821, no idea where that came from, it should be 1812.

The Mather side of my family was my father's family.  Blakley name was a marriage on my mother's side Ralph McMullen married Hilda Blakley nothing to do with the Mathers.

Thanks for everyone's help.  I've been trying to find further information to match all of this up.
The latest information I've found is a baptism for son Joseph Mather born in Ysceifiog and it refers to birth at  paper mill and 9 weeks later his death on 29 Jul 1820 and burial at Maes-Y-Coed Flintshire, Wales.   Would anyone know what papermill that would be?

Wm and Esther had daughter Sarah baptised 15 Mar 1815, abode "Hol'l".
Another birth to a paper maker in the locale is Sarah, dau of Edward Mather and Mary Jones, abode "Croeswian"

Post #16 above has a link to papermaking in Wales - see pages 2/3
