I;ve been off doing other things so am jusr catching up!

Just seen your reply Gadget - sorry for the overlap.  Unfortunately the people I'm looking for are all earlier than 1841.  Thanks for looking for me.

I did give you a couple from the actual parish registers for Holywell which indicated that they were of Bagillt

Note that Bagillt was part of Holywell parish at that time. I've had a look at the online parish records for Holywell during your time period.  They are a little mixed and I have only found  two Mather marriages where Bagillt is mentioned :

27 May 1776 Thomas Mather and Mary Nuttall

22 June 1782 Samuel Jones and Elizabeth Mather

There may be others but it would mean searching all of the Holywell records.

Thanks very much Wilcoxon - I have found the page on the papermills and just going to settle down to read it all.

There are more mentioned in previous sections,  they might help.

There are lots here, just search Mather and you can use the filter to sort them out.

Thanks very much again but none of these seem to be the right dates.  I will continue searching on the link you have just sent me.  So many people with the same names.  Is Mather a Welsh name?

The earliest sighting of Mather/Roberts as paper makers is 1822 and mentions John Mather Snr and Jnr. This looks like the family?

FindMyPast (image/transcript)
Marriage -
30 July 1791, Mar. Jno Mather of the Parish of Caerwys & Mary Vaughan of this Parish.
(The transcript has the marriage place and bride's residence as Whitford)

Baptism (image/transcript)
29 Jun 1792, Ysceifiog, Thomas, son of John Mather & Mary his wife, formerly Mary _____ (left blank!) of the Town of Trefraeth
24 Nov 1793, Ysceifiog, John son of John Mathern,** paper maker of Trefiaith and Mary form. Vaughan his wife
12 Sep 1806, Ysceifiog, Mary the daughter of John Mathern** and Mary his wife, formerly Vaughan, of the Township of Trefraeth

** - clearly an "n" on the original.
