William Thomson, Jedburgh.
« on: Sunday 23 April 23 15:29 BST (UK) »
I have a William Thomson in my tree b1823 Jedburgh and d1865 Shotheads. He married Janet Bell.
I have found his parents on their marriage certificate James Thomson and Helen Deans. But struggling to find any more information on them.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Search on Scotland's People using Thom*son - that will pick up the variants.

There are recorded baptisms of children to James Thomson and Helen/Nelly Deans
Agnes Walser, baptised 19 December 1813, Sprouston
Ann Walker Thomson, born 16 January and baptised 16 February 1817, Kelso East Relief Church
Ann Walser, baptised 14 November 1817, Sprouston

It has crossed my mind to wonder if Walser might be a misrecording or mistranscription of Walker, and that the two Anns may be the same person. The original documents may tell you where they lived and what James' occupation was at the times of the baptisms.
Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.

The 1841 entry I mentioned shows Helen aged 61

There is this baptism

Helen Deans 15.2.1781 Eckford - father William mother Margaret Burns

1851 entry shows Helen aged 70 b Eckford.  Also in household an unmarried William Thomson b 1818 Sprouston  - address is Shothead
