Fuller - Missing Birth Registrations?
« on: Sunday 23 April 23 18:51 BST (UK) »
Just wondering if anyone can help please?
I am trying to help a friend research their family history - which appears to go back into Bedfordshire. Being completely unfamiliar with this county does not help and I cannot seem to find much in the way of Parish Registers on line.

The family I am researching at the moment are a GEORGE FULLER, born about 1803 - and his wife ANN - born about 1805. They live in the hamlet of Harrowden.

Their 2 youngest children appear to be;
Joseph Fuller born about 1837/8
Mary Ann Fuller born 1841 (she is 1 month old on the 1841 census).

I cannot find a birth registration for either of them, to discover the mother's maiden name. (Nor can I find a marriage for George and Ann - or baptisms for their other children!

I have attached the transcribed copy of the 1841 Census for George Fuller - which shows his family. (From the Family Search website).

Is anyone able to point me in the right direction for the registrations of the 2 youngest children - or parish registers for George and Ann's marriage and baptisms please.

Many thanks for reading.

Failure to register a birth only became a fineable offence in 1874 so it isn't unusual to not find one

Thank you, Carole.

I am finding research in Bedfordshire very frustrating as there seems to be very little in the way of on-line Parish Registers, compared with the counties I am familiar with.

There is an on-line tree on Ancestry, which shows a wife's name, but no evidence as to where this has come from. I suppose I could contact the tree owner. I am just getting nowhere with this Bedfordshire family at this point.

From that, first baptism to George & Ann Fuller in Cardington was Samuel, 22 May 1825.

Oh Wow -- thank you both so much --- and jonw65 - I am so grateful for that link.

I was wanting Ann's maiden surname and the site you have provided, which was completely unknown to me - has given that information.

Many thanks to both of you.

Pennines, You probably are aware but just info really that you may already know. George Fuller had a sister Sarah born c1813 in either Guernsey/Jersey depending on various census. She "married" cannot find, a James Berrington and can be found with children from 1841 onwards. In 1881 census she can be found as the sister in law of George's wife Ann.

A couple of births

Thank you John,

This is a bit of a mystery family actually.

The Mary Ann Fuller aged 1 month in 1841 is still with them in 1851, aged 9.

In 1861 - a 39 year old Mary Ann Fuller has appeared, listed as daughter - born Harrowden! Is that age an error I wonder?

I did see the Sarah Bennington born Jersey - but haven't explored her yet, as I was trying to find the wife of George Fuller and struggling with that!

Many thanks for that information though - I really appreciate it.
