Oh perfect! This is the exactly what I was looking for. One other question now that I’m seeing this document, James’ occupation is listed as “gypsy”. Is that comparable to a hawker as far as a job is concerned. Seems more of a description than an occupation. The family were traveling tinsmiths back in Scotland so it makes sense that they may have still be itinerant in Canada, just have never seen gypsy listed as occupation before. Thanks again!

This is very interesting. I wonder why she wasn’t living with her parents? Perhaps couldn’t afford to keep her idk

Did James have a brother Isaac living in New Brunswick and father Alexander living at 150 Canongate in Edinburgh?

If so there is a James McKenzie returning to Canada from Scotland in Feb 1921 after a visit to parents. This James indicates he is widowed so this might explain why Euphemia is not with parents in the 1921 census. I can’t, however, see a death for a Robina in the records.

James gives brother Isaac in St John as his Canadian contact and father as his contact in the country he came from.

The image is available on ancestry if you have access or can be found on the Canadian National Archives website.

Isaac returned to Canada from the same Edinburgh address in 1924.

Yes that is correct! That Isaac is my great great grandfather. I’ve pretty much concluded my research on him and am now expanding into the siblings so all of this information is new to me. Thank you for that I will look into it further! Although it makes me wonder why Isaac and his wife didn’t take the child in? Or why James didn’t just take her with him. Perhaps cost, but still doesn’t explain why she didn’t stay with family. Anyway more clues to follow!
