Naval records
« on: Wednesday 26 April 23 00:20 BST (UK) »
One of my ancestors was a crewmember on the Steam Sloop Driver in the 1840's. He is listed as 'Seaman Schoolmr' which I assume is the Seaman's Schoolmaster who was responsible for education on board the vessel, but wondering what exactly he would be doing, how would he have been appointed etc.

Welcome to RootsChat!

You have posted on the 'How to Use RootsChat' board, which is not for posting family history requests. I have asked the moderator to move your post to a more appropriate board, which is where someone will hopefully assist you with your query.

Yes, my apologies. I reposted after realising that I had put this query in the wrong place.
