HELP - iphone phone number set up
« on: Friday 28 April 23 01:47 BST (UK) »
Hi folks,

Setting up my iPhone for Messenger, iTunes etc...

The last part of the process asks for the iphone number...

I added the number as 07...

This is not acceptable but for the life of me I can't find how to add the iphone number beginning +44

Please help  :)

If you hold down the 0 the + will come up

Alternatively enter 0044 7 etc

(Don’t forget the zero in front of the 7 gets dropped)

Thanks mckha...

I'll give it a try tomorrow, it's unbelievable the option for +44 isn't actually visible.

Unfortunately, holding down the '0' doesn't bring up the '+' sign.

The part in question shows an example (2 boxes), pre filled which I've to type into...

Phone 123 12345678

I thought I had to type in 079 etc. but it shows up in red it's not filled in correctly.

I'm at a loss as earlier in the questions I ticked the option to 'use this phone number' so I have no clue as to what the last option refers to.

I think the way to add the + sign must have changed with recent updates as the number keypad on my iPhone has changed!

When I go to add a number to contacts there is now a key at the bottom left of the number keypad marked with +*#. Press that, then a + key will appear at the bottom centre of the keypad which you can you use.

Let us know how you get on ....

Hi manukarik,

There's no other option visible anywhere on the 'form' I'm filling out.

One question/answer was 'use this number' which would be the mobile no. of the phone I'm trying to set up, I ticked that i.e. I can't fathom why they give the option 'phone' later requesting a number but it won't accept my mob. no. (079) & of course no option for '+'...it's an enigma.

I think I'll have to go to the O2 shop to get help as I'm stuck in a rut  ;D

Hadn't clicked that it was a form you were trying to add the plus sign to. Depends on the keyboard that's coming up. If there's no symbol / number toggle on the keyboard for the site, then perhaps try to get the plus symbol up in contacts or on another site and then copy and paste it into the form?

The process is long i.e. I'll have a look again tomorrow.

As for copying/pasting, I have no clue yet how to use my new contraption & much preferred my old Nokia 6300 (with no internet)  ;D

Sorry...I'm calling it a 'form'...it's a process (if on paper would equate to a form), filling in details, name, address, phone no; bank details...

It's an iPhone 8 which I bought new a couple of years ago but never got round to the transition, forced into it now as my old faithful is falling apart & family nagging me to move into the 21st century  :D
