This is a genuine question: I don’t know how old Isaac Harvey was when he died, but would a death from cardiac failure have resulted in an inquest?

According to GRO he was 54 when he died (Liverpool 8b/40).

If you do not  know his age at 1886, how have you identified Isaac HARVEY, dying Liverpool 1886, to be your Manchester ancestor?

wivenhoe, if this is directed at my reply #9, I am not the OP, I was just making a general enquiry about the criteria for holding an inquest at that time.

Yes he was 54. He definitely is my ancestor and I don't know what the criteria was for requiring an inquest. I assume it was a reasonably sudden death, but I don't know anything about his Medical History, although Heart problems do seem fairly frequent in his descendants.

About 10 years later I had another ancestor who died "fell getting out of bed" and there was an inquest on that one.

I suppose aged 54 at that time, taking into account his lifestyle, where he lived and presumably enjoying a drink, dying from a heart issue isn't unsurprising.

Just to add...just twigged, there's no mention of an inquest on the Death Certificate, so no Inquest was held.
