My ancestor John Luffman joined these two units approximately 10 years apart. If they have survived where would his records be located please?

He was 5' 3" tall, had dark brown hair, grey eyes and a fair complexion. He was discharged because of defective vision and asthma. He couldn't write.

His discharge papers, which  also show him serving in the Somerset Fencible Cavalry from 1793 -1799, are on Findmypast. If you have any difficulty getting them, send me a personal message.

Thanks for this. I have seen these records at Kew. What I need his accession documents which should contain his place of birth. That is the record I need.

The discharge record has his place of birth as St Mary's parish, York.

Seen that. I need to see one of the accession documents as that has to be wrong. There is no record of a baptism in York. Will explain by pm but too late now as its complex.
