Looking for some help on this one please if anyone can shed light
Francis was from the Shettleston area of Glasgow. There was a story that he was killed in the troop train crash at Quintinshill near Gretna Green on 22 May 1915 but the memorial for this sad disaster does not share his name as a casualty. He has lost his life during WW1 given the family was given the death Penny as a memorial and recognition of his services in War .. I cannot see any detail of this Francis McKenna and wondered if anyone could offer a clue to his fate ?

Have looked at Scotlands People but dont see any alignment to any Francis McKenna in any listing of service deaths ..

Thanking in advance for any help
Scott Morland

The closest possibility on the Scots Roll of Honour is this attachment maybe worth checking out.

Maybe he was on the train but didn't actually die then?

See screenshots from from https://www.cwgc.org/

There are four deaths of Francis McKennas in the Service Returns for 1915 on Scotland's People. You'd need to look at all of them to find out which one is yours.
Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.

Hmmm - if he didn't die on the train, he might have died in a later year of the war.

I doubt it makes any difference but 2358 McKenna is listed as dying in Egypt, not Gallipoli according to his will record here:
