I have found Sebastopol addresses in Pontlottyn in 1881 and 1891 but unfortunately no Thomas Davies there e.g. 1891

Just to add an easier map search.

Sebastopol was a small group of terraced cottages a short distance east of St Teilio's Church, Troedrhiwfuwch. Just extend the line of Chapel Road eastward towards the Rhymney River across the railway line. If you have Google Maps try 51.732980, -3.257223. If you go to the National Library of Scotland maps website try https://maps.nls.uk/geo/explore/#zoom=16.5&lat=51.73253&lon=-3.25719&layers=6&b=1

The historical border between the two counties was the line of the river but is now further east on the ridge between the Rhymney and Sirhowy rivers.

During the miner's strike, I was living in Bargoed about 4 miles south and used to drive through Troedrhiwfuwch every day. Over the years more and more buildings have disappeared, the public house next to St Teilio's Church was still a thriving hotel business till the mid 1980s.

The lost hamlet of Sebastopol, near Pontlottyn. It was situated below Troedrhiwfuwch, between the railway line and the Rhymney river, and was abandoned in the 1970's.
