There's a marriage of a Sarah Jane Carter (father Thomas) to George Arthur in Lewisham in 1870. the 1871 census tells us she's b c1845 in Bermondsey

We're lucky - Nathaniel's been enumerated twice on 1881 (if a little peculiarly). As per Ancestry transcription
