Annie Perkins - what happened next?
« on: Wednesday 03 May 23 09:05 BST (UK) »
I had help in finding out that Joseph  Thomas  Perkins married Annie Corah in June 1900.

In 1908 Joseph Thomas, Annie & their son Joseph Sidney all sailed for a new life in Canada.   Sadly Joseph senior died only six months later and Annie & their son returned to England sometime between 1909 & 1911.   As I’ve found them living back in Shepshed in 1911 with Annie’s brother Thomas  Corah and family in Brick kiln Lane Shepshed.

After that I can’t find anything to do with Annie?   No death or burial records nothing????  I am wondering if she remarried possibly but I’m struggling to find anything.

Her son later know just as Sidney remained in the local area and was a Methodist preacher never marrying.

Annie was born circa 1875 in Shepshed.  I believe her parents were William and Hannah Corah.

I’d love to solve the mystery of what happened to Annie ?????

Joseph was living with Thomas and Sarah Corah in 1921, and there is an Annie Perkins, born in Shepshed in 1875, in Leicester, but I can't see the details. He is transcribed as Joseph J.

There is a death of an Annie Walker, b 1876, registered in Loughborough in 1929, which might be her.

1921 - Annie Perkins, a widow is housekeeper to Charles Henry Hassell and family.
Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.

Interesting thank you I will look into the marriage.   I saw the 1939 entry and wondered if it was Joseph Sidney The birthdate looks correct as his birth was registered 2nd quarter of that year.   I know from living relatives that remember Sidney, as he was known, that he was a Methodist preacher.   I see his occupation was costing clerk.   Maybe he because a preacher later in life or at the same time ???

I don’t believe the other person listed Elizabeth A Walker is his mother the birth years are way out.  She was born 1875.   However I wonder if it could’ve been a step Sister if his mother did marry a Mr Walker ?  I will certainly investigate thanks

Does her birth year match up on this 1875?    Someone further on this post mentioned a marriage to Mr Walker I believe the same year in December ??

Thanks David ,

Someone else has found A Annie living as a house keeper for George Hassell not sure if it’s in Leicester in 1921 as I don’t have access to those records.   But it would
Explain why she’s missing from living with her son and brother at this time.

Someone discovered a marriage by a Annie Perkins to a Mr Walker so that would tie in with the death entry you found?
