South Wales Gazette, 5 February 1904

BLACKWOOD LICENSING SESSIONS
POLICE REPORT: JUSTICES DECISION
[a very long list of decisions about licensing includes this:]

Objection was also made to ... Cross Keys, Fleur-de-Lis; Trelyn Inn, Trelyn,...

Which I find confusing since I have read that Fleur-de-Lis was a new name for a place originally called Trelyn. Presumably at this time it was still somewhat distinct. (I’m not familiar with the area either.)

I’ve just had a look on street view. That pub is gone, replaced by a small modern housing development called Cwrt Trelyn.

“OCCUPATION ROAD” may not be a road name. Apparently (Oxford Dictionary) an occupation road is a private road for the use of the occupiers of land.
