Tony Herbert Gray 1936-1975 (Marriage lookup request)

Hi all,

I'm helping my aunt with her family tree and I'm a bit stuck on her cousin Tony. I know he was the son of Kings Lynn showman Herbert S Gray, and the brother of the TV singer Robin Gray.

From his father's obituary in 1963, I know he is married at that point.

From stories I know he was engaged to someone called Joy in 1974, but he died of heart complications before they could marry. I've heard he had 2 daughters from his first partner.

I can't seem to find a marriage that works for him, while there are a few Tony Grays on Ancestry that marry between 1955 and 1963, I can attribute most of them to different Tonys.

He was born in Wisbech, went to school in Holt, lived in Kings Lynn, then Coltishall, spent some time in Essex, died in Caister-on-Sea, then buried in Hardwick cemetery. I believe he may have also spent time in London when his brother was singing.

If anyone knows or can find who his first wife was, I'd be really grateful.

Have you ruled out the marriage in 1960 between a Tony H Gray and a lady by the surname Ratcliffe (unsure if she is still alive so I will not name her)?

Possible daughter for this couple born in 1964 and registered in King's Lynn. Another possible daughter in 1962, although she was registered in Stepney so could be unrelated.

I had initially ruled it out as there's a different Tony H Gray in Yorkshire at the time, but if that couple possibly had 2 daughters I'll do some more digging. Thanks.

There was an administration of his estate 20 June 1984 in Ipswich.
