…..
so how does this equate to Susan being 36 when she married ……
Where does being 36 when she married come from?

From viewing her marriage certificate on SP.

Annette
Well, then the parents names will be documented.

The marriage certificate did indeed state same parents names BUT she is shown as 36 (not 18-19) as does her death certificate concur with birthdate of 1869. Why would someone claim to be 17 years older than they were?  That's a huge leap.

As I said before, dates just don't add up and can't get my head around that.

As you all mention, ages are suspect for Susan  ::)

This is her on the 1901 census:

William Thomson 56 Railway Goods Checker b. Annan Dumfriesshire
Eliza Thomson 53 b. England
Dalveen Thomson 17 b. Glasgow
Susan Haren 30 Boarder, draper, b. Ireland

Address 115 Montrose Str, Glasgow/ St Rollox

This is the address she gave at the time of her marriage in 1905. Also her occupation in 1905 is that of a drapery saleswoman.

Parents as mentioned, both deceased in 1905. No obvious link with witnesses, George Carter and Mary Carnie (?).

Just from the index for 1911 (original would need to be checked):

Patrick Lavary 43
Susan A Lavary 41
Mary C Lavary 4

And for 1921, from the index only:

Susan Agnes Lavery 50
Veronica 14 (is this Mary from 1911?)

Both these entries show in the Gorbals, Glasgow.

Added: From Births Index:

MARY CATHERINE LAVERY
Mother's maiden name HAREN
1907
644 / 17 / 182
Gorbals

Two death registrations with the same reference/year for a Veronica Lavery and Mary Catherine Lavery in 2003 in Glasgow. Grand age of 96  :)

There are a couple of RC baptism that could connect in Ireland. Hard to say as there may be a number of couples with the same names.

James Joseph Horan
Baptism 13 Jan 1871 Cleenish, Fermanagh
Parents Owen Horan and Mary McGreene

Maggie Horan
Baptism 8 Jun 1873 Cleenish, Fermanagh
Parents Owen Horan and Mary McGuire

Can't see an entry for a Susan unfortunately.

I have clearly missed something here. As far as I am aware, we don't have a birth or baptism for Susan Agnes. She states she is 36 on marriage. Why then should she be 18-19?

Perhaps the Agnes born in Maryhill is a red herring.  Susan says she was born in Ireland.

If she was the Agnes in reply #2.

Redboxed…yes, I agree, I think that family must be a red herring.

John born 1869 is the earliest child I can see at the moment.
