Identification help

Hi everyone,

The attached pictures was found in the belongings of one of my deceased family members.  It was in with their private and treasured possessions however we have no idea what it is and why she would have had it.  It probably was obtained by her around the 1950s at a guess.  Can anyone cast their expert eye over it and let me know what it is and whether it belongs to a particular family?  From there I might have an idea why should would have it and where to look further.
