Venice records for Eugenia Safartti in 1880s or early 1900s
« on: Monday 08 May 23 14:04 BST (UK) »
Hello I would love to track down some records for Eugenia Safartti. She married Alessandro Consolo who was born in 1876 and their daughter Mina was born in Venice in early 1900s. Can anyone point me to Venice records on line for births, marriages etc? Eugenia may have been Jewish. Very many thanks, colee

I think there are a few different ways of spelling the surname, can also be Sarfatti for example.

That's incredible thank you so much TreeSpirit! I found the Venice book on Family Search but it was 2000 pages long and I couldn't see any Consolos in it. I also saw the Umberto Consolo on Ancestry but didn't think they would be connected as the name seemed different and it seemed odd that he was living in Lewisham (which bizarrely is around the corner from me). I'm sure it must be quite a common name too. I can't believe they are the same person. Amazing. Thank you!

Had a look here:

https://antenati.cultura.gov.it/search-registry/?serie=365858&descrizione=Venezia&lang=en

but could only find records for the period 1806 to 1817, but might be helpful if you go further back. Apparently the records reverted to the church for a period after that.

That's a great resource Manukarik, thank you, and the entries are easy to read which is a bonus. It's very useful as a eye into which families were there at that time. I'll read through it all, it's only 300 pages. Thank you so much for that. Colee

The Consolo family was in Penge, Kent in the 1870s and I've found them on the 1871 census through Ancestry. But I can't seem to access the record externally through Family Search. Does anyone know if there is a quirk with accessing the 1871? Here is the link on Ancestry:

https://www.ancestry.co.uk/imageviewer/collections/7619/images/SRYRG10_848_850-0619?pId=13550218

So the parish is St Johns in Kent, and it's enumeration district 49 which doesn't seem to come up on Family Search. Any ideas? Thank you so much for help so far. Colee

There is definitely something weird weird going on.

The Consolo family is located in the piece RG10/850 ... i.e. FS film #827759.
However when you perform a record search with this film selected no results (at all) are returned for this film.

FYI only: https://www.familysearch.org/search/catalog/563458?availability=Family%20History%20Library

Thank you FreeSpirit, good to know it's not just me!

Also, when I click on any of the links for those Penge records, it seems like they're locked, and there's an error loading the image.

Guess I'll try and follow that up with Family Search.

Many thanks for getting back to me on it. Colee
