In 1911 Ethel Brown [1896] is living with Albert and Emma Gawthrop in Histon and continues to live with the family up to at least 1939. Birth 12 Sept 1897.  Died 1988 dob 12 Sept 1896
Emma Gawthrop's mn was Brown. Parents James and Emma Brown (née Badcock)

Can anyone see who Ethel's parents are and the connection with Emma, if any?

In 1921, Ethel is shown as born in Bethnal Green.

You have her full birthdate so check freebmd for her birth then use GRO online to establish her mmn.
1911 shows both were b Histon but different birthplace for Ethel on 1921

Given the age difference & birthplace difference - not Emma's sister

If Emma had brothers - check if they married & Ethel is their daughter & therefore Emma's niece.

There is a Dec qtr 1896 birth on freebmd in Bethnal Green - illegit.  Perhaps the mother was a sister of Emma

Thanks for looking. I did wonder if Ethel was the daughter of Emma. I can't find Ethel or Emma in 1901.

In 1891 Emma was living with her sister Ada in Service in Cambridge, but I think Ada married in 1896

Maybe, just maybe, Ethel is Emma's daughter??

She is not with them in 1911.

Possible baptism of Ether Brown. 30th September 1896 St Andrew's Bethnal Green. Parents James & Emma, abode 420, Corfield Street. James occupation Footman.
