Researching the Staats family who lived in New Castle, Delaware during the 1700's; moved down to Virginia (Tyler County & surrounding areas) early 1800's and then to Indiana.  Tentatively, I have Ephraim Jacob Staats (1742-1797 Delaware) & wife, Rachel Clark (1751 Delaware - 1851) for whom I find two sons, Jesse and David.  Jesse (born 1768 New Castle; died 1850 possibly Illinois) & wife Letitia Codrick (born c.1778 New Castle, DE; died c.1834 Maryland or Virginia). Four sons, one daughter.  Son David (born 17 July 1800 Alleghany Co., Maryland; died 14 Nov. 1886 Fortville, Hancock Co., Indiana) married Hannah Springer (born 13 Aug. 1804 Monongalia Co., VA; died after 1880 Hancock County, Indiana.  I descend from their daughter, Rebecca Garrett Staats (1838-1883 Indiana) who married Morris Fort.
