Hello,

I am trying to confirm details of this lady's parents who reputedly were William Alfred JAMES (born 18/05/1876) and Lucy BAKER (born 14/08/1882).   It is not known where the parents were born despite extensive research.  Hopefully someone can help.   If further details are required please let me know and I shall try to obtain them.

This research is on behalf of the granddaughter who lives in Western Australia and together we are researching the BEVAN family of St. Brides Major in the Vale of Glamorgan.

For the moment

Think it might be too much of a coincidence, but on the index to the 1921 census, there's a William James in the same household as the Stonehams. He was born 1875 in Cwmaman, Carmarthenshire.
But I think you'll need the marriage certificate to be sure of his father as William James isn't an uncommon name.

Good Morning osprey,

Thank you for all your excellent research.   I really am grateful.   Now to piece it together and see where that takes me.   Sadly, as you remark, William JAMES is not an uncommon name 8)

For the moment,

Hello
Can I just give you a warning.
William James the lodger in 1921 says he is born in Cwmaman ,he doesn't say the one in Carmarthanshire ,there is also one in Glamorganshire near Merthyr.
There is a William lodger coal miner from Cwmaman in the Senghenydd area from the Glamorgan one 1901 and 1911.

1881 census Forchann Road? Aberdare
William James 33 coal miner Sandybrick
Margaret 30 Merthyr
John 8 Cwmaman
Willie 4 Cwmaman
Tommy 2 Cwmaman

After that the boys are nephews of Henry Jeremiah born 1843 coal miner and his wife Mary .
Extra child Edward born 1883 .

Just so you have something to compare when you get that marriage certificate.
