Gregson family

I am having trouble finding Daniel Gregson born 1817 married Elizabeth Smith. Son Thomas 1847 my great grandfather. But cannot find anything on Daniel or further back.

Can you please post the reference to the 1851 census i presume you have them on.

Is your Thomas the one who married Jane Baxendale?

Was he actually born Nov 23 1845?
Baptism Feb 9 1846. Son of Daniel & Elizabeth , standishgate, labourer

According to the records they had two sons named Thomas I presume one must have died. Yes Thomas married Jane. My grandmother is their daughter Jane she married William Finney.

They also had a daughter Martha 1 October 1843 bap. 13 October 1843 All Saints Wigan

She was buried 10 November 1844 All Saints Wigan daughter of Betty Gregson of Standishgate

aged 13 months- fever.

There is a family in 1851 2199 /559/7

Lyon Street, Wigan
Elizabeth Gregson 40 yrs, a widow b Upholland

There are several children all born with mother’s name of Gregson.
There is a Thomas but there is no birth with mother Gregson - just the one with Smith.

Elizabeth Gregson (not mother) marriage in 1859 gives father as Daniel
John Gregson marriage in 1863 gives father as Daniel

In 1851 there is a visitor, Daniel Linford, 50 yrs with the family but he may not be the father Daniel, of course.

I purchased Thomas’ birth certificate 1845 Thomas son of Daniel Gregson mother Elizabeth Gregson ne Smith.

Elizabeth Gregson, 56 yrs b Upholland with children and grandchildren is living beside Thomas and Jane Gregson so it looks to be the same family.

I think that Daniel GREGSON was a figment of her imagination.  Daniel LINFORD is also with them in 1841.
