Hi,can anyone help, im looking for any info on charles josephe stanley born 1891 in st marylebone,london , he was the son of joseph and amy stanley  , i cant seem to find him on the 1911 census , but he married his first wife rosa stratford in 1917 in cirencester, gloucestershire,then remarried in 1935 in willlesden, middlesex,
any info would be great

His service record does show that he was on Black Prince from 20 June 1910 to 29 May 1911.

His mother included him when she filled out the 1911 census but his entry was then crossed out by the enumerator.  It said 'in the Navy (ordinary seaman)'.

I am confused by this. Charles joseph stanley was married to rosa in 1917,they divorced in 1924 (thanks for that piece of info )but charles had 2 children my grandad charles robert stanley born 1920 and his brother dennis w stanley in 1923 , both with his second wife alice evelyn (brigham) ,to whom  he didnt marry till 1935  ,but on my grandad birth certificate his mothers name is alice evelyn stanley, formerly brigham ?? but they wernt married till 1935

Sequel to War Wedding

In the Divorce Court today the President granted a decree nisi to Mrs Rosa Stanley, against her husband Charles Joseph Stanley who did not defend.
Petitioner gave evidence that she married the Respondent in April 1917 at Cirencester Parish Church, and they lived at Gloucester Street , Cirencester and in London. He was then in the army. He went abroad on service and had never returned to her. After the war she discovered him living in London with another woman.

Edit : the man in the Naval record was dismissed in 1912 for desertion and striking an officer, so probably joined the army or was called up for the war.
