Too many searches over the years  ::) I had actually viewed a possible entry for an Adam Cruickshank born Aberdeen in 1886...at some point in my life!

This Adam's birth was illegitimate. His birth date is given as 2 December 1886 and born in St Nicholas, Aberdeen. Mother Mary Cruickshanks.

She claimed a George Cruickshanks, a baker, was the father and the action was upheld.

So whilst the birth is close, likely not connected?

That rules out the one I mention then Monica in 1886 I don't even see a David Cruickshank that matches the occupation in the census records either .

I'll throw in an 1891 for David Smith 45 b Arbroath & wife Jessie 42 b Inverurie - don't ask me why - but there are similarities

David is an iron moulder

Son Adam aged 4

Marriage of David Smith & Jessie Cruickshank 1878 - no children in 1881

No birth for an Adam Smith & no matching birth for daughter Harriett/Harretta under Smith

I did see that and did wonder ? I think it was the occupation of Adam that put me off going by his occupation on R N record as message boy .But maybe that was his occupation in the navy  ???

I had seen the 1901 entry and wondered whether it could be him. There may be something there, Carole. Well done on picking up these possibles  ;)

Jessie's father & brother were both called David & her father was a labourer at the iron foundry.  There are Fullerton stepchildren on the 1861 entry but brother David was only 1mth old so could possibly be Adam's father??

I have done searches for these people before...and memory of the why and when is not there :-\

I have viewed previously the 1878 marriage in Aberdeen of David Smith and Jessie Cruickshank. Her parents were Alexander Cruickshank and Ann Duncan.

Annoying me that I cannot remember the background to these searches I did!
