Richard Houghton 1881 Census

 I did manage to get most of that info from Census etc and saw her M/C .

What I am trying to say as its possible the death reg I posted is him.

If a birth cert for Louisa is unable to be found she may be illeg and born after Richard died.

As for down as mar in 1881 sometimes this has occurred in other queries although we know the husband has left or is deceased.

Possible John but 1939 register has her born 4 May 1878.

Thanks. No, I couldn't find a Baptism for Louisa either, it just gave her Father as Richard a furnaceman on her wedding cert. I couldn't find Richard's son Richard either on the baptism records, he's about 1871 and there was another son James born Chorlton 29 Jan 1872. That still leaves a big gap until Louisa in 1878?

He is the only Richard Houghton in Chorlton RD in 1871 that would fit this death.  It certainly looks promising Trish 

I had wondered if the Lodger in 1881 was the father of Louisa but he was elsewhere in 1891

He is the only Richard Houghton in Chorlton RD in 1871 that would fit this death.  It certainly looks promising Trish 

The death is in Hulme district which ties with 1871 census and both those records have age as 32 years.
I agree it does look promising.

Problem here - there's a Louisa Sergeant b c1878 n Preston on censuses. In 1881 she looks to be the child of Thomas and Mary, who have many children, so the lack of a mother's maiden name is odd. However by 1891 she's Mary's granddaughter, which fits if she was the daughter of one of Mary's older girls (aged 23 and 19 in 1881)
