Have the baptism (St Patrick's RC) of William Brown 19 Dec 1860 of John Brown & Hanna Skey
Sp - Catherine Caghy

So it seems more likely that the 1901 census return is the correct family!!

I think this is James' baptism on January 22, 1863 at St. Patrick's:

Thanks Eileen and thanks to all for replies -

I believe this to be the James Brown I have been searching for - I could not have done it without you!

So, we've now got the baptism of James Brown (1863, so no birth registration) which confirms his parents and links to the 1901 census entry for Hanna Brown & son James (Unity St.).
Still not sighted in 1911 census in Ireland, don't know where he and wife Mary were living from 1902-1924, what happened to Mary after 1924 or if they had any children.
Do you want us to search for missing bits mentioned above?
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Thankyou for your kind offer - I will be trying to fill those gaps in knowledge myself but they say two brains are better than one so --

I would appreciate any help as the search of such a common name is very difficult -
