Can anyone help me identify the Park Nursing Home circa 1950 . The attached photos I have found all appear to be the same building but labelled differently.

The Manor Hotel I have researched and was in existence 1901 – 1946 occupied by the same family and was run as a hotel. Built in 1893 I believe.

Today the building can be seen on google earth in Lindens Walk Llandrindod Wells with the hotel name still intact.  How could it have been a nursing home?

In 1950 unless there are two identical buildings in Llandrindod Wells”.

There appears to be an extension build on the picture of The Manor.

My grandmother died in the Park Nursing Home in 1950 according to her death certificate. Can anyone help me with this mystery.

Many Thanks

Hi Molly 5039,
I wonder if you contacted Llandrindod Wells library they would be able to put you in touch with a local historian?  Just a thought.

According to a 1968 newspaper report the Park Nursing Home was in Lindens Walk, so it seems to be the same building and presumably reverted to being known as The Manor.

Added

A 1996 death notice refers to the Manor Residential Home, Lindens Walk.

There is also a death at "Park Nursing Home, Montpellier Park, Llandrindod Wells on 2 Oct 1953.
(solicitor's notice in  "The Times", Monday,  Feb. 1, 1954)

Looking at a current map, Montpellier Park is not the same address as Linden Walk.  :-\

Looking at the O.S 25” map of Llandrindod Wells the same 3 buildings have occupied the one built up side of Lindens Walk for over a century and the Manor/Park/Manor building is certainly the same central building. The gable end of the building to the left in the photo of the nursing home and on Google Street View show it is the same.

The Manor Hotel is at Linden's Walk on the '39 Register.

There are 2 newspaper notices (birth, Dec 1946, job advert Mar 1949) for the Park Nursing Home, Llandrindod Wells.

The Western Mail, Jun - Oct 1948, carried a couple of adverts for sale by auction "LLANDRINDOD WELLS ... as a going concern, the old established ... Manor Hotel, centrally sit, 3 recep, office, 27 letting Beds, 6 staff rooms, 3 baths, &c, ...".

The Manor Hotel continues to advertise in the 1950s including the descriptions " ... small hotel ..." (Mar 1956) but nothing for the '60s on. I noticed the phone number had changed from the earlier adverts.

Thank you everyone, I've checked Llandrindod Wells archives, they have no record of The Park Nursing Home.
Trying to see if there is any local historical society groups in that area who have done research on it.
