Matthew Locke 1540
« on: Tuesday 23 May 23 08:13 BST (UK) »
I have a Matthew Locke 1540 – 1628 born in London, Middlesex, England and died in Pensford, Buckinghamshire, England. Married Catherine Seymour she was born 1548 London England died 1625 Pensford, Buckinghamshire, England. According to Geni her parents were  Edward Seymour, 1st Duke of Somerset and Lady Anne Seymour, Duchess of Somerset. On some of the ancestry trees people have her parents as Thomas Seymour and Catherine. I think most of us know about Parr, not only that but this is royalty and I don’t think I have royalty in my family. Can anyone on here sort this out, I don’t seem to be able to see the wood from the trees and I get muddled up.

Thank you.

What is your source for the deaths of Matthew and Catherine at "Pensford, Buckinghamshire", please?  I thought Pensford was in Somerset.

I think that any link to the Seymour brothers may be wishful thinking.

Edward Seymour was married twice (to Catherine Filiol and subsequently to Anne Stanhope), but there are no mentions in any of the online biographies of his daughter Catherine marrying.  I can't find any dates for her either  :-\

Thomas Seymour only married once, to the former queen.  Their daughter died when she was two.

Curiouser and curiouser.....If I've read this right...This tree is saying Catherine Parr's daughter Mary married and had five children.

Yes I understand that. I have Catherine married to Matthew Locke which is confirmed in the link that I posted to answer a question by another member helping me, if you would kindly look at that. Thank

I hope you can see why I'm in a bit of a state trying to sort this out. As far as I'm concerned something is very wrong. There is also this link look for Catherine Seymore (born Parr), 1512 - 1548 just down the page. https://www.myheritage.com/names/catherine_seymore

I have looked at the site from the link you posted.

I don't see any confirmation that Matthew Locke married Catherine or Mary Seymour who was the daughter of either Edward or Thomas Seymour.  There are no primary documentary sources cited in support of this.  He may have married a woman with the surname Seymour, but may well have been from an unrelated family.

Did Matthew Locke leave a will?  Or perhaps his son?
