McGirr family Tattymoyle Upper in Co. Tyrone
« on: Tuesday 23 May 23 09:14 BST (UK) »
Patrick McGirr is my great grandfather. As far as I know he was born in 1861 and died in 1932. He was a farmer and owned a piece of land at Tattymoyle Upper. His wife was Mary McGirr. Perhaps her maiden name is Woods and she is from Eskra. But for sure I don't... The couple had four children: Minnie Jane (1894), John (1896), Catherine Ann (1898, she is my grandmother and married Llewelyn Henry Lloyd) and Margaret H (1900), she married John Harry Caldicott from Wolverhampton. I am looking for more information about the McGirr's from Tattymoyle. I am particularly interested in my great grandfather 'Paddy' and his wife. My grandmother left me the old farmhouse. I live and work in the Netherlands for part of the year. That's where I come from. Comments about the McGirr family from Tattymoyle are highly appreciated. LB.

His wife was Mary Woods. Here's the marriage - 12 January 1891 at Magheralough RC Church (in Co. Tyrone), near Irvinestown Co. Fermanagh .

Wow, that is very helpful information! Thanks a lot Kiltaglassan. That marriage document is important to me. Know I can figure out more from the Woods (from Cabra) and John McGirr, father of Patrick. Great!

Of cours :-)  I had that document in my hands years ago. My wife and I then visited Proni in Belfast. A copy hangs in the old farmhouse. You make me excited to keep looking. Thank you! regards, Llewelyn.
