I am researching Duncan McNaughton Cairns born Alva 1896. It was a family story that his father was a coach driver in the Central Belt
 and he often helped Burke and Haire!
That apart, Duncan was my dear grandfather and I would love to know a bit more about him and Alva, where he grew up in the early 1900s. Thank you!

Burke and Hare were most active around 1828, and Burke was hanged in 1829. So if your Duncan's father helped them, he must have been aged around 90 when Duncan was born.
