Midnight Crash

Two motor cars in head-on collision.

Six people injured.

Six people were injured -most of them seriously, as the result of a head on collision between two motor cars late last night on the Edinburgh, Linlithgow, Stirling road  and were removed to the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary for treatment.
The injured are
William Bruce Sutherland (29) 5 West Stanhope Pl Edinburgh, fractured right ankle
William Marshall (30) Dalsraid Villa, Fallin, Stirlingshire
Duncan Mcnaughton Cairns (42) 15 Park Avenue, Stirling
Murie Hendry (23) Saughtonhall Mains House, Edinburgh
George Starkey (32) Dalmorglen Park, Stirling. Treated but not detained
Robert Hamilton Bannockburn, very seriously injured.

The accident occurred at Gogarburn Burn, about a quarter mile beyond Turnhouse Aerodrome. A Ford ten proceeding from the city came in violent contact with a SS Saloon travelling eastwards.
Assistance was readily forthcoming from Air Force personnel at the Areodrome, and police and two doctors also went to the aid of the occupants of the cars.
Both cars were badly damaged in front. The radiator and engine of the Ford car were stove into such an extent that to extricate the driver, axes had to be used.
Dr j Fraser Orr, winchbugh, and Dr Peter Stewart, Kirkliston, rendered what aid they could and an Air Force ambulance and an Edinburgh City Police ambulance conveyed the injured the tge Royal Infirmary
An Air Force fire engine which is stationed on the aerodrome to deal with emergencies and is equipped for handling damaged aeroplanes, was on the scene, and rendered valuable assistance.

Thank you Middlesburgh! I knew Duncan had been in a serious car accident. I remember telling me his fingers were hurt, not broken, and it was really really painful for a very long time after the accident. He had a limp after that.

I have Ancestry.uk though?
That's probably why you were having difficulty tracking down your Duncan.

See https://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=714261.0
Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.

I have read post about Ancestry and Scotlands People and totally agree. Ihave been up the wall and round the corner with Ancestry more times than I care to remember, sometimes with SP too though. So much information from the Statuory certificates we are so lucky to have this.
My relatives have spread mainly to the US and have proven difficult to find even with Ancestry. With me it has been many lucky accidents and lovely people to help, many of whom are on this Forum!
