William Fraser who married Janet Falconar in Dyke 24 Nov 1747
« on: Tuesday 23 May 23 23:16 BST (UK) »
I've been trying to track down an ancestor James Fraser 1770-1834, a farmer, who married Isabel Clark 176?-1860 in Inverness, Inverness.  Their daughter Isabella married Donald Jack a ship master in the coastal trade between Inverness and Wick.  James Fraser's grandfather could be William Fraser 1705 to 24 Apr 1764 stone# moy13, whatever that means (source Libindx Moray), who died at Darklis - it is likely somewhere in Moray close to Moy.  Scotland's People doesn't seem to have anyone that lines up with this spelling or I may have missed them.

I am trying to determine a connection to a Fraser branch eg. Frasers of ???.  Does anyone know where I would find a picture of the grave stone and/or of Darklis?  Connecting William Fraser to his parents would also help.   Thanks.

It means that there is a gravestone in Moy kirkyard that mentions William. There are three other people on the same stone. Go to libindx.moray.gov.uk/people/mainfilter.asp and type Moy13 in the box labelled 'Headstone ref' and click on 'Search', then click on the magnifying glass symbol of each person separately.

Now spelled Darklass.

though there don't seem to be any photographs of Darklass.
Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.
